晋福堂于1954年开始，每月由年会派有牧师由外地赴古晋主持崇拜。
这一年，香蕉路一块土地和建筑便被购置，充做教堂用途。
值得一提的是，当年长老会和巴色会都曾在巴都林当有聚会，由于与卫理公会信仰相近，会友皆转来，从而使到会友大增。另有崇圣会信徒也参与。因此，晋福堂于1955年4月正式成立。1957年并开始英语崇拜。
1984年，晋福堂英语崇拜搬家到黄土路，从而使到三一堂的出现。这里的教堂，原属晋光堂。
古晋后来许多教堂的出现和成立，都与晋福堂有关连。
